The new Foil X 125 size slots in between the 105 and 145, becoming our R&D team’s instant favourite. All three sizes have new cutaways running down the rails to reduce tail volume to allow the rider to sink the tail and pop up onto the foil. An adjusted nose rockerline make the boards more forgiving when touching down mid-jibe by helping you bounce straight back up. The new mini carrry-handle on the bottom makes it easier to carry board and sail together. New centred footstrap positions unlock freestyle and jumping abilities.
What are the recommended foils for the FOIL X?
The Foil X are compact foil boards designed to foil with smaller, lighter sails. On the foil side, riders can choose between lifty, maneuverable foils like the Starboard Foil SuperCruiser or the faster, high performance foils like the GT-R Plus. The SuperCruiser offers early take-off, awesome maneuverability and floating foil jibes. The GT-R offers higher top speeds and faster acceleration.
THE FOIL X105
Dimensions: 185×64, 105 liters
Our most maneuverable and playful board ever, both radical and surprisingly user-friendly. Fly downwind, let your sail out and even transition into surf foiling. The next step in foiling for those in the know. Ultra-compact, yet friendly to uphaul thanks to its wide outline and super-thick nose. The new2021 model is 3cm longer and 1cm wider to add a touch more forgiveness. Combined with new deeper cutaways, the extra-long flat on the X 105 boosts early take-off. Landings and relaunches are effortless thanks to the ample nose kick. Recommended for riders up to 80kg.
THE FOIL X 125
Dimensions: 190x67cm, 125 liters
Our intermediate board of the range. It combines an easy ride with more technical possibilities, offering the perfect match for a rider who wants to increase their foiling skills. The 67cm width keeps it stable before take off. The long flat bottom, deep rail cutaways and ultra compact outline then makes it quick to pop out of the water and take off. The reduced volume and thinner profile brings a new sensation of freedom when flying in the air. The middle back footstrap enables jumps and your first 360s. Freestyle is now accessible to intermediate level foilers. A masterclass. The new middle back footstrap on the 105 and 125 makes these boards more freestyle-friendly and easier for first-time foilers. By keeping the back foot over the center line and your front foot closer to the rail, it’s easier to stay in control and to keep the board from rolling side to side.
THE FOIL X 145
Dimensions: 193x71cm, 145 liters
With its compact outline, the X 145 is hyper maneuverable and reactive. Yet, with plenty of volume, even progressing windsurfers stepping off a GO will be ready for the X 145. The new rail cutaways will help you take off from just 6 knots of wind and the extended, more curved nose will make it more forgiving when touching down. Powered by a sail between 3.7m2 to 8.0m2 and paired with Starboard Foil’s SuperCruiser, you’ll fly and float your way through foil jibes at speeds lower than you thought possible. Paired with Starboard Foil’s GTR Plus, you’ll unlock more speed, more acceleration and more G forces for a thrilling ride.
FREEDOM OF FLIGHT
As the wind picks up, from 15 to 25 knots or more, you switch to smaller sails, say between 3.0 and 4.7 and a whole new world opens up with a foiling style that is all about freedom of flight. The Foil X 105, FOIL X 125, and the Foil X 145 are available in Wood Sandwich construction and the Foil X 125 and FOIL X 145 are also available in Starlite.
